10 Things to Do in December
Happy New Year's Eve Eve, guys! Here's our 10 Things list for December - hopefully you've managed to tick them all off by now!
1. Go Carolling
2. Go Ice Skating
3. Do Something Charitable
Whether you plan on ringing in 2013 in the midst of Times Square or from the comfort of your living room, we hope you have the happiest of New Years! :-)
1. Go Carolling

Whether you go out singing yourself, or simply let others serenade you with a selection of festive songs, there is nothing like a bit of Christmas carolling to get you into the holiday spirit.
2. Go Ice Skating
http://magazine.motilo.com/wear-ice-skating-edit/
Whether you're a skating pro or have two left feet, you're still bound to have an icy good time zipping/stumbling around on the rink! (Even if half the fun is the prospect of
après-skate hot chocolate :-).

10. Ring In the New Year
Purchasing a present for Santas Anonymous, helping out at a soup kitchen, filling a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child...there are countless ways of spreading the love this time of year.
4. Make a Gingerbread House
http://www.photos.ultimategingerbread.com/2012/08/beautiful-gingerbread-house-by-debbie.html
Or, you know, a gingerbread mansion, as this well-coiffed lady has done.
5. Indulge in Food
http://www.onebodymindspiritlove.com/wpcontent/uploads/2012/12/ChristmasDinner_iStock_DNY59_600x338.jpg
It's pretty much the law that you're not supposed to count calories in December (that's what January is for!), so indulge in all the mouth-watering culinary delights the season has to offer.
6. See the Lights
http://s2.favim.com/orig/35/beautiful-christmas-house-lights-places-Favim.com-282446.jpg
Probably one of the most entertaining (and free!) things you can do this month is drive around town looking at lights. Every neighbourhood has its resident Griswold family, so you're sure to see some fabulous displays!
7. Observe the Spiritual Aspect of Christmas
Even if you're not a Christian, you can still respect the religious origins of Christmas by watching a school Nativity play or checking out a church's display.
8. Watch Christmas Movies
http://www.examiner.com/article/my-top-5-christmas-movies
'Tis the season to curl up on your couch and watch cosy, corny, Christmas movies!
9. Hit Up the Sales
Brave the crowds and snag some super deals on Boxing Day.

Ten Things to Do in November
Sorry for the radio silence, guys! We've had a not-quite-completed 10 Things November post just chilling in drafts for the longest time...and even though there is roughly an hour left of the month, it's still better late than never, right?!
1. Vote (Either Actually or Vicariously)
No, we're not American, but we still find Election Day exciting!
2. Observe Remembrance Day
Wear your poppy with pride in the weeks leading up to this poignant holiday, and take a moment to remember those brave people who fought in the war.
3. Celebrate (American) Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving, American readers! We hope you enjoyed a day filled with turkey, love, and giving thanks.
4. Celebrate Bonfire Night
Remember, remember the 5th of November! Happy Guy Fawkes Day/Bonfire Night, English readers!
5. Indulge in a Christmas Beverage at Starbucks
Gingerbread/eggnog/caramel brûlé lattes, peppermint mochas...heck, even Christmas Blend coffee...Starbucks Holiday Drinks are back in town and we couldn't be happier!
6. Listen to Christmas Music
It's a very special moment when you hear the first Christmas song of the season on the radio...it fills you with a happy, joyful feeling you should savour because within a month you will be guaranteed to Never. Want. To. Hear. Another. Christmas. Song. Again.
7. Partake in Black Friday
Score some super deals at all your favourite stores with this annual shopping extravaganza/mall brawl.
8. Send Off Your Christmas Cards
If you send out Christmas cards, do it sooner rather than later - not only does it take the stress off you to have it done but it's nice for the receiver to have your card up on the mantel-piece/wherever for as long as possible.
9. Deck the Halls
Sure, you could wait til December to put your Christmas tree and lights up, but the more mileage you get out of your decs the better, right?!
10. Get a Head-Start On Your Christmas Shopping
Shopping for other people can be stressful at the best of times - beat the mid-December crowds and lessen the stress by getting it done as soon as you can.

Anna Karenin-spired
Vicky recently had a Banana Republic work event to launch the store's Anna Karenina-themed Holiday collection, and, naturally, the dress code for the evening was "Russian." And, more specifically, black with touches of grey or red. A touch of fur, dash of red lipstick, and strand of pearls did the job nicely, giving a basic black outfit a winter-glam vibe.

Black, fur-collared cardigan - Forever 21
Red belt - Aldo Accessories
Red earrings - Aldo Accessories
